The United State federal agents has shot a man in his late 30s at Minneapolis area of the country.
Video footages which shows the moment federal agents shot and killed 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti in south Minneapolis at about 9 a.m. local time on Saturday has kept on circulating.
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement that agents fired “defensive shots” after “an individual approached U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the man had a permit to carry and videos of the incident do not show Pretti approaching officers with a weapon in his hands.
The shooting comes after massive protests in the city following the increased presence of ICE agents, and the killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent on January 7. Protests swelled in the city on Saturday following this shooting.
This marks the second time this month, a federal agent has shot and killed a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis. The moment was caught on video again, and the city’s police chief is urging outraged citizens to keep the calm and be law abiding citizens while law takes full course.
